Interview with Mrs. Cindy
LaPlante
Teacher of the Week
Mrs.
Cindy LaPlante, who teaches sixth grade math, and eighth math and eighth and
ninth grade Algebra, is in her first year of teaching at BCA. Previously, she was an accountant with
companies such as Lifespan, Amica, and Allied Signal. When asked about changing careers, she says, “I love
teaching math.”

Mrs.
LaPlante grew up in Cranston, and graduated from Cranston East High
School. She has a degree in accounting
from Providence College, and is working on her Master’s Degree in Education
from the University of Phoenix.
In
her spare time, Mrs. LaPlante likes spending time with her family (her husband
Ron and her daughter Bianca, who is a BCA graduate), and doing crafts. She also
loves animals! She has six pets: – one
cat, two parakeets and three dogs (two greyhounds and one shih-tzu). She is a football fan, and her favorite team
is the Miami Dolphins.
Mrs.
LaPlante’s birthday is December 22.
In the past, she has
volunteered as a Girl Scout Leader and Sunday School Teacher. She has traveled in Florida, Georgia,
California and Portugal. When asked
what her favorite book is, she quickly replied, “James and the Giant Peach.”
Three
things that she would still like to do in her life are learn to play the
violin, sing more, and go to England.

Mrs.
LaPlante’s favorite Bible verses are Matthew 11:28-29, "Come to me, all you who are weary and
burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me,
for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls.”
