Intramural soccer, basketball and track and field will be available for students in grades 3-5 who wish to participate. Information will be sent home at the beginning of each season. It is important for parents to inform the school office if their bus-riding student has permission to stay for intramural sports. PIANO LESSONS Students in good academic standing may take private piano lessons during the school day. Payment for music lessons is made directly to the teacher, Mrs. Cheryl Poisson, who will schedule the lesson time in conjunction with the students’ classroom teachers. BCA INSTRUMENTAL ENSEMBLE and GUITAR ENSEMBLE The Instrumental Ensemble and Guitar Ensemble are after-school activities that meet from 3:00-4:00. Parents will be responsible for the cost of rentals and required music. Mrs. Liz Boehmke leads these ensembles. NATIONAL HONOR SOCIETY The BCA chapter of the National Honor Society was established in 2008. Students are eligible for selection when they are sophomores, juniors, and seniors and have been enrolled in BCA for one semester. A minimum cumulative grade point average of 85 is required. Upon meeting the grade level, enrollment, and GPA standards, candidates are then considered by the BCA NHS Faculty Council on the basis of their service, leadership, and character. STUDENT GOVERNMENT The student government officers include a president, treasurer, and two representatives from each grade who are elected or appointed. All students are encouraged to attend Student Government meetings and any student may volunteer to lead or assist with a special event or fundraising activity. Student Government activities include organizing social events, fundraisers, and activities that support high school students and the entire BCA community. ROBOTICS Robotics is a club that provides time and opportunity to work with Lego Mindstorms Software and Lego materials. Through robotic design activities, students act like writers, researchers, scientists, mathematicians and designers. Investigative, instructional and engineering activities occur during each robotics meeting. Students work to display their work in two demonstrations. In the fall, students work to accomplish the goals for the FLLcompetition http://firstlegoleague.org. In the spring the students work to demonstrate their work at Robotics Park http://www.risf.net/events.htm. |
