The "E" in BCA has H.E.A.R.T. stands for embracing excellence. As an exemplary school, BCA is committed to providing an education in which every child can reach his/her full potential. This includes meeting the particular academic and affective needs of our High Ability Students.

BCA has developed a school-wide program based on National Standards for Gifted Education and Best Practices of Teaching. This program has gained recognition at the state level through our relationship with the Rhode Island Advocates of Gifted Education (RIAGE), at a regional level through attendance at conferences and leading of workshops, and even at a national ACSI level. BCA had the opportunity recently to advise a representative from a Christian school in Puerto Rico on developing a program for high ability students. The RI Friend of the Gifted award was presented to Mrs. Zins at the 2011 New England Conference on Gifted & Talented Education. 

The components of our program include opportunities in the following areas: 
  1. Acceleration: BCA will consider early entrance to kindergarten, subject acceleration, and grade skipping.
  2. Professional Development: Topics include classroom enrichment, differentiated instruction, and best practices of gifted education.
  3. Ongoing focus on building reasoning skills and creative thinking skills across the disciplines.
  4. Curriculum offerings/decisions: Honors and AP level classes, Individualized Learning Plans, Scholar Projects, Study Island, Accelerated Reader, Electives, Robotics teams, online courses, etc.
  5. EPIC: a multi-age, fee-based, elementary program (grades 3-5), taught by Mrs. Cross, that integrates (organized around a theme): cross-curricular skills in science, technology, math, engineering, art, language arts and history, as well as activities designed to increase creative thinking skills and addressing the particular affective needs of high ability students. 

BCA is committed to being an exemplary Christian school of academic excellence and spiritual formation that equips and prepares students to lead in every arena of society with skill, integrity, and faith. The value added uniqueness of a BCA education is that all students will be challenged to meet their full God-given potential so that God will be glorified and His Kingdom advanced.
