Student Life > Service Projects
Service ProjectsJesus told us that to be great in His Kingdom, we must become servants. We teach students servant leadership by involving them in service to the school and our local community, raising funds for various international mission projects, and taking the high school students on mission trips. Here is what is going on at BCA right now:
MIDDLE SCHOOL Eighth Grade service projects this quarter focused on the BCA building and grounds. First, the students spent several week working on the mulch pile on the playground and were even interviewed by the Barrington Times while doing the job. They were a great help in both setting up and breaking down the chairs and tables for the BCA Grandparents Day. Lastly, students gathered recycling products from each classroom and office in the building, loaded it in the school van and took turns helping Mr. Diamond take it to the recycling center each Friday. Second quarter we looked outside our community to see how we might serve local churches. For one project we washed windows, polished pews, and helped clean up the dust from the renovations at Riverside Covenant Church. We also helped the Komanapalli's in their ministry called Manna Ministries. We help fill and seal 1700 envelopes for their Christmas mailing. (In the past we have also helped prepared Sunday school curriculum and VBS crafts and also washed windows at YOUR church, snow shoveled and raked for BBC.) Other things we've done in the past:
In the future, this year hopefully, we are trying to hook up with an inner city ministry. We are also making plans to hopefully help John Wright pack and ship some supplies to Africa. HIGH SCHOOL
