LOWER SCHOOL
The art room is an important place to learn through exploration at any age. When the student is actively engaged in the creative process it is then that the learning really begins. At BCA we plan our classes to ignite inquiry through the following strategies:
HIGH SCHOOL At BCA we believe that the arts are important! Students begin their journey with learning to observe. As students learn to see they find that they can draw. As these skills are developed over time an appreciation of creation grows as well as an appreciation for the Creator. Initially students begin with a Drawing I course. After that they may choose from a wide range of courses which may include Painting, Mixed Media, Printmaking, 2D Design, Sculpture and Senior Studio. We also offer a Photography Club. Our desire is that students are afforded the opportunity to develop competencies in several areas and with a variety of media. As a result they learn to communicate through the arts. Classroom critiques offer regular experiences to exchange ideas and to encourage one another. Our visual arts program encourages problem solving and creative thinking which are necessary skills in our present day world. |
