B.S. in Elementary Teaching, Western Oregon State University
M.A. in School Counseling, Rhode Island College
Mrs. Halligan lives in Bristol with her husband. She has 5 delightful grown children and 4 wonderful grandchildren. Mrs. Halligan grew up in Pennsylvania and then moved to Oregon where she owned a sewing machine business for 10 years, selling Pfaff sewing machines and teaching sewing lessons.
After deciding that teaching was really her heart’s desire, she returned to school to get her education degree. She spent her first year teaching in an inner city school in Salem Oregon as a reading specialist and then the next 11 years as a middle school teacher in a self-contained classroom as well as the Talented and Gifted Coordinator in Monmouth Oregon. When she moved to Rhode Island in 2001, she first taught at a private Christian School in Middletown before finding BCA in 2002 where she taught middle school social studies for about seven years. During that time she returned to school to get her Masters in school counseling and gradually moved into a full time guidance/college counseling position at BCA. Mrs. Halligan loves being able to work in a spirit filled environment and talk openly about Jesus every day. It has become her second church family.
Mrs. Halligan loves to sew and has created anything from couch covers to wedding dresses. She also loves to play the piano, guitar and sing and has been a part of a praise and worship team for the last 24 years. Other pastimes she enjoys are cooking, going to the beach, long walks in the woods and reading.
Her greatest joy besides her family is helping young people discover who they are in Christ and helping them to learn to use all of their strengths, weaknesses, successes and failures to glorify God.
